Swings

Slide

These pictures, taken in February 2007, show the childrens' playground by the beach in Methoni. Methoni has a huge castle and the people all used to live inside the castle grounds. The beach is stony in some areas and you can find shells there. Mostly, especially in summer, it is sandy and very good to swin here. Because Methoni is by the Ionian Sea, not an ocean, it is not tidal and there are few waves.

Chickens feeding

Lots of people in Greece still keep chickens to give them eggs. Chickens like to run around and peck their food from the ground.

tortoise

Look who's here! Move the computer mouse over the picture to show the name. He is not a pet - he came by himself to the lemon grove in 2001 and liked to eat the leaves of small plants in the shade under the trees. We think he has gone somewhere else now.

Make your own web-page

You can make a pretend web page in "Notepad" on your computer. It will look like a real page and once you have finished it you could put it online to make it real- but that will cost money and you need to sign contracts so best leave it for later!

There are many websites showing how to make a site of your own using html code and css style sheets.

These sites allow you to copy simple code then to save it as an html document in notepad. Then you can open it in your internet browser.

There are some big words here and you may need help from a parent or someone who knows a bit more. But have a go!

Grapevine wood

This is what a grapevine stem looks like inside (a very thin slice under a microscope). It is not coloured though- that is an effect of the light.
